Infographics scare me! They are intimidating to create and drive me crazy! Had to get that off of my chest.
For this assignment I created free accounts in easely, piktochart and infogram. All three are great sites to help you in creating your infogram.
The first site that I looked at was that of easely While it had awesome templates to use; I had a hard time trying to navigate through this site. I noticed a tab that said "Getting Started" and underneath that tab there was a section that said "Crash Course in Infographics". I was jumping for joy because I found a way to be helped. When I clicked on that link it sent me to an e-book that was NEVER sent to my email. NEXT!
I then tried piktochart. At first I was like, do I have to pay to get the templates that I want to use? Well the answer was yes and no. There are plenty of great looking templates that you can use free of charge; but just like all the other sites you can upgrade your experience by paying a fee. I am broke so I went with the free stuff. I ended up choosing the first template that I found to test this site. The tool bar was easy to understand and I was able to add shapes, colors, fonts and was able to upload images from my computer on to this site. I LIKE THIS ONE!
The final site that I tried out was infogram. The templates that I found on this site were just as good as the ones in piktochart; but the tool bar was hard for me to decipher. While I was able to understand more or less how to use it; it was taking me too much time to decipher them. It reminded me of the tool bar I have to use when using Photo Shop. NO THANKS!
I ended up choosing piktochart. But what information was I going to use to create my chart. I went to the Pew Research Center website and found great articles that would be helpful with my assignment. The article that just popped into my mind was one dealing with cyber bullying. I used the data and information that was in the article to create my piktochart. Hope you enjoy.

LOL the first sentences made me giggle! I love how brutally honest you are, it is refreshing! Your infogram look awesome though! All the hard work paid off sir!
ReplyDeleteI hate how it keeps showing me as unknown! Again your honesty is great! I keep popping in on your blog to see what you come up with next!
DeleteLiz not the unknown comentor!
I love how much personality you put into writing your blogs! I chose the same article for my infographic, but I really like the colors and simplicity of yours. It looks like a poster that could be hung on the walls at school or posted on social media.
ReplyDeletePablo I do not know you, but your posts make me feel better on the struggles I had creating an info graphic. I really like yours and especially the chart since those are tricky to fill in. I spent hours creating mine only to submit it without making it public.
ReplyDeletePablo,
ReplyDeleteI have to be honest about this too. Infographics, yuk! Well, almost! I had the same experience you had with the first two Infographics' sites. I also happen to like Piktochart the best, although the previous struggle with the other two rubbed off on me. I can tell you that Infographics will not be my first choice of presenting data. Well, maybe I can register for some Infographics training courses that way I can become more knowledgeable about it.
Best,
JHValdez
WOW! Your info-graphic was amazing, I really liked the layout, the graphics and the colors that you used were very visually appealing.
ReplyDeleteYou infographic looks amazing! You have nothing to be fearful of.
ReplyDeleteLooks Great, Really, you should feel proud.

Your infographic looks great! I also found this assignment a little intimidating. I never could get my images lined up just the way I wanted. I need to practice! I do feel like these can be useful for displaying important information to students, teachers and parents though.
